The Attorney General’s Office asks for 46.5 years in prison for Lozoya – El Financiero

The Office of the Attorney General of the Republic presented before the judge the writ of imputation formal against Emilio Lozoya Austinformer director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), for whom he requested a sentence of 46.5 years in prison and 21.3 years in prison for his mother, Gilda Susana Austin.

In addition, he requested that they be ordered to repair the damage for 6.3 million dollars as well as the seizure of properties, including the residence located in the Lomas de Bezares neighborhood, in Mexico City, and a luxurious apartment located in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Guerrero. .

In the 54-page brief, the Prosecutor’s Office detailed the way in which Emilio Lozoya received bribes from the Brazilian company Odebrecht in order to facilitate the delivery of contracts by Petróleos Mexicanos to said company.

He recounted how Lozoya met the directors of the Brazilian company and the agreements they reached, prior to the victory of the PRI in the 2012 presidential election and, after that, once he was appointed as director of Pemex in the government of Enrique Peña grandson.

In the letter, dated January 3 and signed by the Public Ministry Javier Jiménez, the FGR did not make any direct accusation against former President Peña Nieto or against Luis Videgaray, former Secretary of the Treasury, to whom Lozoya seeks to charge as leaders of a criminal structure that forced him to commit acts of corruption.

The FGR has at least 59 tests to confirm that Lozoya and their relatives were the ones who benefited from the bribes.

With his accusation Lozoya seeks to obtain a criterion of opportunity in order to reduce a possible sentence to the minimum possible.

defense of Lozoya has declared that despite the imprisonment of his client, he maintains the attitude of collaboration with the General Prosecutor of the Republic and continues with the negotiations to access the criterion of opportunity, for which it is willing to present evidence against Peña Nieto and against Videgaray.
