At around 5am this Sunday, October 30th, a fire broke out in the attic of a two-storey building with attic, in boulevard de Courtais 5, in Montluçon (Allier) around 5am.
Twenty-one firefighters from the rescue centers of Montluçon, Néris-les-Bains and Doyet promptly intervened on the spot. When they arrived, the penthouse, 20 m² where a studio was installed, was completely on fire.
Spread in the neighboring building prevented
Captain Pierre Stumpf, head of the main rescue center in Montluçon and assistant to the head of the western territorial grouping, supervised the rescue operations.
We have avoided the spread of the fire in the second part of the attic of the adjoining building.
No casualties because the studio was empty
The studio roof collapsed.
The damage was caused by the collapse of the roof of the attic and then by the collapse in turn of the attic on the second floor.
The disaster claimed no victims because the studio was not occupied at the time of the events. The circumstances of the fire are still unknown.
Boulevard de Courtais cut off during the morning
The maneuvers of the fire brigade led to the complete closure to traffic of the boulevard de Courtais from rue des Bernardines to the faubourg Saint-Pierre. This portion can only be reopened at the beginning of Sunday afternoon, after the evacuation and safety of the site by the fire brigade.
