The attack that killed a Russian general two days ago and injured two soldiers near the town of Deir Ezzor, in eastern Syria, was claimed Thursday evening by the “Islamic State” group (IS ).

IS also reported another similar explosion that targeted a vehicle carrying fighters from a Moscow-allied “militia” and killed their commander.
On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry, cited by Russian agencies, admitted the death of a high-ranking military adviser, with the rank of major general in Syria, by the explosion of an “improvised explosive device” , and had reported the existence of two wounded.
