Ukrainian authorities have denounced the Russian attack on a children’s hospital and a maternity center in the besieged port city of Mariupol, in the south-east of the country. The city council has called the damage “immense.” Images captured by AP photographer Evgeniy Maloletka capture the scale of the tragedy.
They show how pregnant women have been injured in the attack and are evacuated by volunteers and emergency services.
According to the head of the regional military administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, at least 17 people have been injured in the attack on the maternal and child center. Kyrylenko assures that among the victims there are “women who were in labor”, reports The Guardian.
Kyrylenko, according to the BBC, reports that at the moment there are no children among the injured. At the moment, the total number of victims is unknown.
