The story
On the Boston side, it wasn’t just the Red Sox. The Braves began their history in the city of Massachusetts in 1871 and remained there until 1952. They had different names (Red Stockings, Beaneaters, Doves …), before choosing in 1912 their current name – which makes reference to Indian warriors, but which is today a source of controversy, because this nickname is considered racist towards the Amerindians. In 1914, the Boston Braves won their first World Series, against the Philadelphia Athletics (4-0).
