Erik ten Hag remains an important candidate to become the new manager of Manchester United. According to The Athletic, there are currently four candidates on the list, including the trainer of Ajax.
The usually well-entered Britse medium reports that United plans to begin the process of appointing a new manager in the coming weeks. Ten Hag, Mauricio Pochettino (Paris Saint Germain), Luis Enrique (Spain) and Julen Lopetegui (Seville) are eligible to take over from Pope Ralf Rangnick. All four meet the most important criteria: they have experience with a major European club.
Rangnick took over from the fired Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November. The German will take a step back at the end of the season, after which he will continue to work as an advisor for another two years Premier Leaguesuperpower remains connected. Although Rangnick joked that he could recommend himself, United are determined to appoint a new manager.
If the choice falls on Ten Hag, he would meet an old acquaintance with Donny van de Beek. The former Ajax midfielder may be rented out for six months, but The Mancunians do not want to part with him permanently.
