For the sixth time in a row, the Astros will play in the playoffs and try to reach the World Series again, after losing to the Braves last year. With a 14-game lead over the Mariners, it only takes Astros 4 wins or Mariners 4 losses for Houston to claim his second straight division title.
In case the season ended today, the Astros would have the best record in the American League and face the Wild Card winner between Blue Jays and Mariners in ALDS.
Another victory for Justin Verlander
Just recovered from the injury Justin Verlander knocked out 9 batters in 5 clean innings.
At 39, Justin Verlander is the oldest pitcher in 100 years with 25 strikeouts and zero points allowed in three games. The only other pitchers to do so at the age of 35 or older were RA Dickey in 2012, Roger Clemens in 1998, and Nolan Ryan in 1984 according to ESPN statistics and information.
