The association of Montluçon (Allier), Autisme Entraide Sans Frontière wants to better inform the public about the inclusion of autistic people

Created at the end of 2016 by Alain Passagne, the Autisme Entraide Sans Frontière (AESF) association in Montluçon (Allier) aims to advise parents of children with autism and help them in their efforts. Of the sixty-five members, two-thirds are families.

“We are a relay, a place of resources, whether for parents or professionals. We have hotlines and discussion groups. Parents can come and talk about their problems and we can help them with day-to-day or administrative problems such as filling out an MDPH file

. We are there for the training and information of our members”, summarizes Isabelle Galle, the current president.

A day to improve information

In this concern to always better inform and to make autistic disorder better known to the general public, AESF will organize a big day on the theme of the inclusion of autistic people, Saturday, October 8 at the Pavillon du lac, in Néris-les-Bains .

“As the association was created in 2016, we initially wanted to do a day in 2021 for 5-year-olds but the health crisis did not allow it. Added to this is the fact that we received from the Bearded Villains association a check for 6,000 euros against the promise to do something about it. » Isabelle Galle

“Things are progressing concerning autism and it seemed useful to us to be able to share our inspirations. This is why the entrance for this day will be free and free in order to open it to as many people as possible”, adds Doctor Serge. Gallet, pediatrician at the Center for Early Medico-Social Action (CAMSP).

success stories

The association will be keen, through testimonials, to show that the inclusion of autistic people in society is possible and that they can achieve their full potential there.

“There will be stories about inclusion through music, sports, school, work. We want to give leads to parents or professionals. We will go from early childhood to the world of work through leisure, school and university. » Serge Gallet

Two highlights with Josef Schovanec and Laurent Savard

Even if the program is not yet fully finalized, the day will include two highlights. The philosopher and writer, Josef Schovanec, whose autistic disorder was diagnosed late, will give a lecture before discussing with the public.

The actor Laurent Savard plays his one-man show the Firefighters’ Ball from his book Gabin without limits, my love of autistic son.

Des diagnostics en augmentation

For Doctor Serge Gallet and Isabelle Galle, mother of an autistic boy and worker in a specialized education and home care service (Sessad), it is essential to raise awareness of autistic disorder in all the diversity of its spectrum to better integrating patients into society.

This inclusion of autistic people is all the more important as the number of children diagnosed with autistic disorder is on the rise.

“The incidence of autism is increasing worldwide. It is on the rise because diagnoses are better and made earlier, but that does not explain everything. This increase cannot be explained. The causes invoked such as endocrine disruptors, screens, etc. are more avenues of research than causes. » Serge Gallet

Only 3% of autistic children diagnosed in Allier

The pediatrician estimates that in the Allier only 3% of autistic children have been diagnosed, which does not prevent us from seeing the increase in cases. “We diagnosed fourteen or fifteen new cases in 2021, that’s huge. Before, it was three or four a year,” recalls the doctor.
