The rail transport regulatory authority (ARTF), during a regulatory council, announced the multiplication of controls on the Transgabonais throughout this year.
Combating derailments and other incidents on the rail is one of the priorities of Artf (the rail transport regulatory authority). Indeed, the president of the regulatory council, Thierry Opene Dardel, indicated that, for this year 2024, the ARTF will be present on the ground in terms of covering the railway perimeter. To this end, he intends to deploy several teams on the ground.
The latter’s mission will be to help railway operators anticipate possible defects to avoid for better safety of the Gabonese railway. They will also note anything that is non-compliant. And will carry out regulatory checks and send reports of these checks to headquarters for effective processing.
Remember that the ARTF was created in 2010 and plays a fundamental role in the overall regulation of the rail network. Its advisory, control and arbitration missions actively contribute to shaping the future of railway infrastructure in Gabon, making the ARTF a key player in the country’s economic development.
