The art and essence of Porsche star in BarcelonArt 2.0 to support childhood cancer research

Porsche Center Barcelona has held the second edition of BarcelonArt, the cultural event organized by the German brand to fully support the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu and its work in the childhood cancer treatment and research.

In the facilities of the car dealership, located in the heart of l’Eixample, the works created from parts of the Porsche vehicles that had been replaced in repairsin order to promote sustainability and recycling.

The eight participating sculptors, Dino Barrocas, Lluís Carulla, Ramon Clapers, Rosa Galindo, Nuria Torres, Alejandro Vega, Clàudia Vives-Fierro and Antoni Yranzo, have a extensive experience with international recognition and are closely linked to the city of Barcelona.

Our artists have shown talent and courage as we asked them to create museum pieces from discarded items from our vehicles and they have done so.”

The result of the creation process has valued the talent of the artists, who different techniques and materials have been used such as steel, wood, ceramics, carbon fiber or iron, among others.

The Managing Director of the Porsche Center Barcelona, ​​Jose Velasco, explained that “the challenge was not easy for this second edition. Our artists have shown talent and courage as we asked them to create museum pieces from discarded elements of our vehicles and they have.”

The presentation was attended by more than 150 guests from the Porsche Center Barcelona customer community and other relevant people from the city’s cultural sphere. Besides, 6 of the 8 pieces exhibited in the showroom have been sold in just one hour.

Likewise, a member of the Hospital’s Social Work team, Emma Perrier, stressed that they are very proud and grateful to be able to have an initiative such as the one celebrated by the Porsche Center Barcelona. She according to her she has said, “The only way to be able to continue researching to find ways to combat the disease is thanks to actions like this”.
