The ARS “calls for discipline” after “scenes seen” Wednesday

Groups formed Wednesday evening on the banks of the Loire in Nantes – J. Urbach/ 20 Minutes

  • The ARS calls for caution as festive gatherings or scenes of joy occurred on Wednesday.
  • She insists that while the epidemic is on the decline, the situation remains “fragile”.

“We understand the pleasure of this newfound freedom, but certain scenes seen yesterday in several towns in the region worry us. This is how Nicolas Durand, the deputy director general of the Regional Health Agency of Pays-de-la-Loire, started his weekly press conference this Thursday evening.

In the aftermath of the deconfinement and the reopening of the terraces, which in places created scenes of joy and festive gatherings, the authorities are calling for “discipline”. “The objective is that all the sacrifices we have made so far are not called into question,” continues Nicolas Durand. Certain scenes observed make us say that the message of caution was not really heard… ”

One third of the general population first vaccinated

A little rant as the epidemic continues to decline in the region. This Thursday, the incidence rate was 119 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (from 95.4 in Vendée to 187.8 in Sarthe). “But the situation is fragile and the Covid is still there, insists the ARS. Barrier measures are therefore more necessary than ever: a distance of two meters between each person, wearing a mask, disinfecting the hands, respecting the gauges… ”

If we are “still far from collective immunity”, vaccination continues to progress, with now a third of the general population of Pays-de-la-Loire vaccinated. A new acceleration is expected within ten days, while the Prime Minister has just announced that the opening of vaccination to all adults over 18 will take place on May 31, and no longer on June 15.
