For the third consecutive year, the Arroyo de la Miel Public Library, with a total of 56,384 loans, becomes the library with the second most loans in the Andalusian Public Library Network, made up of more than 760 libraries.
Two provincial libraries, Seville and Granada, occupy first and third place on this list with 80,509 and 51,588 loans respectively.
This second place in the autonomous community responds to several characteristics of the Arroyo de la Miel Library: its collection of more than 82,000 documents, in different formats and different languages, for all types of users and for all ages; extensive opening hours: from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays; and an extensive program of activities to encourage reading.
In 2022, 208 reading promotion activities were carried out, in which more than 7,200 people participated. Storytelling, workshops for children and adults, talks or reading clubs are some of them.
Regarding the number of members, the Library has more than 34,000 in total, 1,393 people obtained their reading card last year.
It is also worth noting the data related to eBiblio Andalucía, the Junta’s free electronic book platform: 2,425 loans and 453 reservations by readers of the Arroyo de la Miel Public Library during 2022.
“These figures show the interest in culture, learning and reading in the population of Benalmadense”, has highlighted the Councilor for Culture, E. Pablo Centella.
