Sources from the Railways Authority confirmed that the arrival of the sixth and final batch of American tractors contracted with the American General Electric Company is expected within weeks, as this batch includes 10 tractors.
For the seventh day, the sources added that 100 tractors have arrived so far from the US tractors deal in 5 batches, as part of the railroad’s contract to manufacture and supply 110 new tractors with the American General Electric Company.
The railway authority began to introduce these new tractors into service in the railway passenger transport sector, replacing the old tractors currently in operation, as new tractors are introduced into service in succession to replace the old tractors.
It is noteworthy that the Railway Authority contracted with the American General Electric Company to manufacture and supply 100 new tractors for the railway before increasing it to 110 tractors, in addition to rehabilitating 81 tractors out of service and providing the necessary spare parts for them, in addition to carrying out maintenance and providing spare parts for 181 tractors for a period of time. 15 years, at a total cost of 575 million dollars, in addition to 440 million pounds, the cost of the 10 added tractors, including the contract to train 30 engineers and 245 railway technicians in the company’s factories and qualify them.
