Junior A., the 25-year-old arrested this morning by the Surinamese police has been detained after leaving his girlfriend of 21 years Murtle stabbed Jentie to death yesterday, the police attacked with a knife upon his arrest. The police called to Monplasairweg, after reporting that Junior was at that address. When the police arrived, the fugitive suspect hid in a bush and attempted suicide by stabbing himself in the chest area with the knife.
When he was arrested, he became enraged and attacked the officers with the knife, as a result of which he suffered a gunshot wound. He was taken by ambulance to the emergency room of the Paramaribo Academic Hospital for treatment. He was taken to hospital for treatment under police guard and is out of danger.
After being brought to trial, suspect Junior was taken into police custody after consultations with the Surinamese Public Prosecutor.
The Department of Capital Crimes is charged with further investigation this case.
