The Army will recover the pontoons before the end of the summer | SER Castro Urdiales

The Regiment of Pontoneros and Specialties of Engineers number 12 plans to recover before the end of the summer season all the pieces of the military platform used in the operation ‘Anchor 21’. The Army has so far withdrawn 30 percent of pontoons, pieces that were left adrift, stranded on the coast and sunk after the military exercise carried out in Castro Urdiales (Cantabria).

The Army continues to work with its own means to remove the pieces, elements that do not contain polluting or toxic products; and whose danger lies only in the fact that they are metallic elements, but that they are perfectly marked.

Commander Rocío Martín, head of the Operations area, affirms that the Corps of Engineers continues to carry out surveillance and maintenance work in the area, with the collaboration of the civil authorities and the fundamental support of the Navy. The military carry out their work in different parts of the coast, both in Cantabria and in the Basque Country.
