The Army Reserve seeks to recruit civilian employees in Puerto Rico

The United States Army Reserve announced today, Friday, the start of a staff recruitment program to fill civilian positions.

Jammy Serrano, administrative officer in charge of the hiring process, indicated in a written communication that want to fill vacancies in the areas of Logistics Management Specialists, Human Resources Specialists, Family Support Assistants and Training and Operations Specialists, among others.

“In the last 30 days we have announced 11 civilian vacancies in the command, with about 120 people applying,” Serrano explained.

The positions, according to Serrano, offer competitive salaries and, on many occasions, exceed the salary offer that private companies offer on the island.

“For example, one of the Training and Operations positions has a salary that starts at $ 64,000 annually and can go up to $ 83,000, according to the call,” added Serrano.

The Reserve’s civilian payroll in Puerto Rico represents an injection of approximately $ 20 million into the local economy, Serrano said.

“These vacancies and our active efforts to hire more federal civilian employees are due to the change in our structure, which made the Reserve the geographic command of the Caribbean,” Serrano stressed.

The United States Army Reserve on the island has units in Aguadilla, Mayagüez, Yauco, Ponce, Salinas, Juana Diaz, Ceiba, Puerto Nuevo, as well as its headquarters in Fort Buchanan.

The general public can apply for the vast majority of available positions, as long as they meet the specific requirements for each vacancy. For more information, interested people should visit the page www.usajobs.gov.
