AMERSFOORT Thanks to the help of the army, the food bank has obtained three large army tents. The places created offer protection in bad weather and were placed at the request of the municipality.

There are regular lines outside at the food bank because people have to wait before they can enter. For example, there may only be an x number of people inside. In bad weather it was seen that people took shelter together under the umbrella and this was undesirable in view of the spread of the virus.
With the help of Defense, it is now possible to keep the desired 1.5-meter distance and still stand dry. The army will make the tents available until the institution has an alternative solution.
It is not the first time that defense has helped the food bank. This happened once before when they donated food. They were actually intended for soldiers who were scheduled for all kinds of exercises. Because these were canceled due to the corona virus, rations, but also fresh vegetables and dairy products were superfluous. That went to aid organizations such as the Salvation Army and the Food Bank. In total, it involved more than 130,000 kilos.
