The Armenian Prime Minister expresses his desire to communicate with Azerbaijan

According to him, the problem of negative attitudes towards each other will not be solved quickly. “But we need to move forward, and one way to solve the problem is to open regional communications and roads. If someone says it’s good for Azerbaijan or Armenia alone, don’t believe it,” Pashinyan said while meeting with villagers on a trip through the Aragaca district.

“Azerbaijan needs to get in touch with Nakhichevan, but we need a rail link with Russia and Iran,” Pashinyan said. “This means that our country’s economy can change significantly.”

At the same time, he stressed that the Nagorno-Karabakh issue has not been resolved, no matter what the President of Azerbaijan said.

On November 9, Armenia and Azerbaijan, with the support of Russia, reached an agreement to cease fire in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which many in Armenia see as capitulation.

The agreement stipulates that Armenians will lose part of the main territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as all areas of the security buffer zone that have been under Armenian control since the 1990s.

Nagorno-Karabakh, which was part of the Azerbaijani SSR during the Soviet era, has been a “de facto” independent Armenian republic since the early 1990s. Although Azerbaijan has not controlled Nagorno-Karabakh since the collapse of the USSR, it considers the Armenian region to be its territory.
