Dakar, Dec 3 (APS) – The Minister of Health and Social Action, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, announced on Friday the upcoming rehabilitation of the Aristide Le Dantec hospital as part of the investment and strengthening plan for a sustainable health system.

He was responding to an inquiry from the liberal deputy, Mame Diarra Fam on the erection of a national referral hospital.

The minister recalled the construction of 4 hospitals, citing that of Thierno Birahim Ndao hospital in Kaffrine which opened its doors on January 4, 2021.
“We are at over 13,800 consultations so far,” he said.
Regarding the equipment of hospitals, the recovery of technical platforms, the provision of medical ambulances to structures, the minister indicated that “462 ambulances have been distributed in the country since 2012”.
On the equipment, “important steps have been taken”, he underlined, noting the supply and installation of 13 Doppler devices in different structures, 4 scanners including 2 at Fann hospital, 1 in Ourossogui and a 1 at Dalal Jamm Hospital.
Two MRIs were given to Dalal Jamm and Fan hospital, 12 radiology units at Touba, Tambacounda, Saint Louis, Le Dantec, Grand Yoff hospitals, among others, said the minister.
With regard to specializing doctors and interns, the deputies wanted “the upgrading” of their study conditions as well as “the organizational framework of interns”.
On the recruitment of health personnel, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr reported 1,200 agents recruited in 2021, including 500 doctors. He announced the recruitment of 905 agents in the framework of a program which concerns six regions of the country.
The 2022 draft budget of the Ministry of Health and Social Action is set at 270 110 604 494 FCFA in commitment authorizations and 235 996 717 777 FCFA in payment appropriations.
