The ice hockey tournament is organized by the Austral Hockey Association and supervised by the Argentine Hockey Confederation with the support of the Municipal State. It will be held from this Thursday the 14th to Sunday the 17th of November at the Huergo Club and the Municipal Gymnasium N°2. The mayor highlighted the work and perseverance of those who carry out this sport: “thank you for representing this Patagonia that we feel in our hearts and for which we work to unite it and make it Federal.”
This Wednesday, in the facilities of the Huergo Club, and with the presence of Mayor Othar Macharashvili, the president of Comodoro Deportes, Hernán Martínez, the director of the tournament, Alejandra Maiorano and the president of the Austral Hockey Association, Carlos Echeveste, the event began. to the Argentine Championship of Sub 14 and Sub 16 ice hockey clubs, which will have a total of 22 who will seek a place on the podium.
It will have 12 under 14 teams, six under 16 women’s teams and four under 16 men’s teams. Additionally, the participation of 12 referees stands out. The delegations present belong to the Bariloche Association, Santacruceña Association, Tierra del Fuego Federation, Santa Cruz Norte Association and the local team of the Austral Hockey Association.
In reference to the tournament, Othar Macharashvili welcomed the ice hockey delegations, expressing his joy and pride in having them in the city. “Today, organizing events and trips costs a lot, so, to all the delegations, thank you for representing the sport of this Patagonia that we feel in our hearts and for which we work to unite it and make it Federal.”
Along the same lines, he encouraged the teams, describing them as “hierarchical athletes”, since they are part of the best that hockey training has in Patagonia and also the referees “who are always present and give hierarchy to these events.” While, on the other hand, he thanked the families and leaders for the effort they make. “They work so that they compete, so that they exchange, but, above all, so that they fraternize. Let’s make this event a game of camaraderie, may the best win and if not, let’s enjoy this event and this beautiful city,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Martínez highlighted the number of athletes present, maintaining that participation “feeds the soul,” while adding that “I always say that you breathe sport. We love sporting activity, we have bet a lot and we are going to continue betting.”
Likewise, he highlighted the support of parents for their sons and daughters, understanding that “sport generates a very big change. To you athletes, -he emphasized-, we welcome you to our city, I hope you are well accommodated and can enjoy the competition we have today. You are the privileged ones.”

The president of the Austral Association, Carlos Echeveste, appreciated the opportunity to hold this important event in the city. “It is gratifying that the Argentine Hockey Confederation has given us the responsibility of carrying it forward, this is done by a group of people who are the ones who work and are there every day. For us it is a pleasure to be able to be hosts, to have municipal support and we hope to rise to the occasion.”
The director of the tournament, Alejandra Maiorano, highlighted the effort of the delegations to make it possible for this championship to have this number of teams. “We welcome the under 14 men’s team, which after a long time has returned to form. We hope it will be a championship with a lot of learning and do not forget that you are rivals on the court and outside, colleagues and friends,” he concluded.
