MADRID, 5 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Federal Police of Argentina (PFA) arrested this Thursday a 29-year-old man who tried to enter the Casa Rosada, headquarters of the Argentine Government, with a machete and, upon being detained, assured that he was going to commit an attack.
“He approached the Casa Rosada with a machete and other sharp elements and the PFA officer Yanina Violante, upon seeing the handle in the attacker’s backpack, prevented his advance and reduced him,” said the Argentine Minister of Security, Patricia. Bullrich, through his profile on the social network X, formerly Twitter.
The events took place around 3:45 p.m. (local time), when the man took advantage of the entry of an official to the government headquarters, where a meeting was taking place between the head of the cabinet, Nicolás Posse, and the Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Francos, with the governors of the Together for Change (JxC) coalition led by former president Mauricio Macri.
The officers pushed him out onto the street and blocked access. On the street, he pulled out a machete and began shouting that he was going to commit an attack. “I am God and I am going to kill the president,” he stated. In addition to the machete, he carried rusty discs used to cut metal and wood, according to the newspaper ‘Clarín’.
The case is now in the Federal Criminal and Correctional Court Number 9, which has ordered proceedings considering that he has committed the crime of public intimidation.
