The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, Diana Mondino, held a meeting this Wednesday with her British counterpart, David Cameron, in which she conveyed the discomfort of Buenos Aires over her recent visit to the Malvinas Islands, from where she defended British sovereignty. .
Mondino has reaffirmed before Cameron “the sovereign rights of the Argentine Republic in the question of the Malvinas Islands” and has reiterated the willingness of Buenos Aires to “resolve the dispute in accordance with the mandate of the international community,” reads a statement from Argentine diplomacy.
Previously, Minister Mondino herself has launched a publication on her official profile on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, where she has shared a photograph with Cameron himself. “Putting things in her place,” adds the Argentine minister in the aforementioned publication.

Both diplomatic representatives met in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, where they held a meeting on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers’ summit. Mondino and Cameron have addressed other issues, such as support for Ukraine or bilateral trade relations.
Cameron’s visit to the Falkland Islands – the first by a cabinet minister since 2016 – came after Argentine President Javier Milei put his country’s claim to the overseas territory back on the table by calling for the islands are delivered to Buenos Aires.
