Around 11:30 yesterday Sunday, the body of Gandini Buix, 51, was found by rescuers in the second cavern of the water mirror, at an approximate depth of 25 meters and with the oxygen tanks empty, he reported. the Diario de Yucatán.

The cenote where the tragedy occurred is located in the San Antonio Mulix police station, belonging to the municipality of Umán, Mexico. According to reports, the athlete had the habit of diving in Dzonbakal in the company of his children. However, on Friday he had entered only to explore areas he did not know, and for reasons that are being investigated, he did not surface again.

Concerned because he had not returned from his journey, the victim’s relatives were the ones who reported the disappearance to the emergency services and a rescue team was immediately mobilized to try to locate the missing diver.

Upon finding the body, tactical divers proceeded to recover the victim’s remains. Then, personnel from the State Investigative Police and the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) will be in charge of the autopsy with the aim of determining the cause of death.

Close to another spectacular X-Batún cenote, the Dzonbakal is semi-open and measures approximately 25 meters long by 15 meters wide. In addition, this water mirror has a maximum depth of 30 meters.
