The Aqua factory in Sukabumi is also inundated by the Cicurug flash flood

SUKABUMI, KOMPAS.com – Flash floods in the District of Cicurug, Regency Sukabumi, West Java, participated in submerging part of the PT Aqua Golden Miss Mississippi factory located on Jalan Siliwangi, Mekarsari Village, Monday (21/9/2020).

“The submerged Aqua factory in Mekarsari Village was due to the fact that the panel walls could not withstand the swift currents of flash floods which eventually burst. As a result, water entered and submerged several rooms in the company,” said Chairman of the Regional SAR Coordination Forum (FKSD) Sukabumi District, Okih. Fajri to Among in Sukabumi, Monday.

According to Fajri, the flood at the Aqua factory was the result of flooding in the Cibuntu River.

The Aqua factory location is in front and not far from the river.

However, until now there has been no information about the flood victims at the factory.

As a result of the disaster, the water treatment production room was flooded, so it could not operate.

It is estimated that the water level that submerged the factory was up to 30 centimeters.

“It is not yet known the current condition after the flash flood which inundated part of the Aqua factory. But what is clear is that this incident is a series of flash flood disasters that occurred in Cicurug District,” said Fajri.

Until now, the number of victims is still in the process of collecting data.

“There were two victims when the disaster occurred who are still in search and their fate is not yet known,” he said.

Meanwhile, the two victims were bread makers who were swept away by the flash flood.

“The joint SAR team is still conducting searches and because it is already late, plus the lack of lighting, the SAR operation will continue on Tuesday,” said Fajri.
