The federal government has taken several measures to reduce our people’s energy bills, such as the basic energy package of 980 euros or, before that, the reduction of VAT and a heating premium of 100 euros. In many households, the € 100 premium was already distributed automatically through the energy supplier via a discount on the upfront bill.

People who have not received the award must apply. You can do this until November 15th via the FPS Economy website. If you have any questions, you can go to the call center, where around 100 people work. The minister came to thank the staff for their efforts and answered two phone calls himself to find out what questions interested citizens have.

“We will need these people for a while, because we give enough time to register and process applications. Many people drop out and it is very important to us that everyone who is eligible for that award can actually get it.” says Van der Straeten.

Just over a third of the approximately 100 employees in the call center work daily on requests for heating bonuses, the rest respond to requests for gas oil bonuses, because these are not automatically processed by suppliers. The heating premium has already been applied automatically for 4.1 million households. In addition, 240,000 applications have already been received by FPS Economy and 100,000 have already been processed. Just over 600,000 applications have already been received for the fuel oil award.
