The application for payment of downtime benefits ends

With the end of the downtime and downtime assistance benefit and forecasting a further increase in the number of unemployed, several employment measures have been developed, according to the draft regulations prepared by the Ministry of Welfare.

The payment of downtime benefits will cease after 30 June.

It is planned to create a wage subsidy support measure, during which employers would be granted subsidies in the amount of 50% of the monthly salary set for the employee for four months. The maximum amount of the subsidy would be 430 euros per month. Thus, if the employee’s monthly salary is 860 euros, the subsidy will be 430 euros per month, while if the salary is 430 euros, it will be possible to receive a subsidy of 215 euros per month.

At the same time, in order to reduce the risk of misuse of financial support, it is envisaged that the unemployed will be able to participate in one of the subsidized employment measures only once per employer. It is also planned that the employer will not be able to establish an employment relationship with an unemployed person who has previously been employed during the last two months before joining the event.

On March 27, the State Revenue Service (SRS) started paying downtime benefits to employees of companies adversely affected by the Covid-19 crisis. At the end of March, the SRS was allocated 102 million euros to start paying downtime benefits.

The downtime benefit requested by the SRS shall be paid within five working days after receipt of the application by transferring the benefit to the employee’s account specified in the application.
