What if Apple’s connected watches soon made it easier for people with diabetes to control their blood sugar levels, without needing to inject themselves or wear a patch? In any case, this is the objective of the apple brand, in line with the ideas of its founder Steve Jobs, who died in 2011, who wanted to put technology at the service of health. The solution offered by Apple for diabetics could very soon be put into practice thanks to recent progress in its development, relate BFM TV.
With the solution proposed by Apple, people with diabetes will no longer need to inject themselves or change their patch every two weeks in order to control their blood glucose levels. Apple has implemented an optical absorption spectroscopy process, where a laser emits light to reach a subcutaneous area. It is then an algorithm that determines the level of glucose present in the blood plasma. The user will be able to control his blood sugar level by consulting his Apple Watch.

The implementation of the solution proposed by Apple should still be the subject of several years of work. Initially, the brand could market a blood glucose monitor, but Apple has every intention of integrating its technology into its future models of connected watches. It would then be a new option around health, among those already offered by Apple Watchs. Apple’s connected watches are indeed already able to monitor users’ heart rate, or their level of oxygen in the blood.
