Replaced by the Apple Watch Series 7, the Series 6 remains a very recommendable connected watch. It does not have to be ashamed of the new model, because it offers almost the same features. The recent Apple Watch Series 7 has been available for a few months already, but paying full price with it is not the way to get a good deal today. A model that does not have to be ashamed of the new generation
Rumors suggested that the new Apple Watch would adopt a design with flat edges, but this was not the case and strongly resembles the Series 6. You benefit from a rectangular design with slightly rounded edges, the famous Digital Crown allowing you to navigate in the interface, as well as an OLED Retina Always-On Display. If the Series 7 gains 1mm more, the screen of the Series 6 remains pleasant and bright and has the Always-On Display function which allows you to constantly leave the screen on.
Another notable difference is in the load. The new watch benefits from 33% faster charging than the Series 6 thanks to a redesigned internal architecture. It will take you 45 minutes to recover 80% battery life, compared to just over an hour previously. This is due to a small noticeable change: the Apple Watch Series 7 charger is now USB-C compatible. But if Apple announces on the Watch Series 7 a 70% brighter screen with the Always-on, it has like the Series 6, 18 hours of autonomy. The latter had also held a good day and a half in classic use, which remains average.
As powerful and complete as the next generation
On the performance side, the Apple Watch Series 6 is powered by the S6 chip which offers an always smooth user experience. It must be said that during the presentation of the new generation, Apple was quite evasive about the performance of its wearable. The Series 6 is just as effective on a daily basis, in particular thanks to the WatchOS 8 operating system. The interface brings some new features, such as added activities, detection of start-up and fall in activity, Concentration mode, background screen in portrait mode, the mindfulness meditation app, etc.
At the level of the sensors you will not be harmed either, because the Series 7 does not bring anything new. The Series 6 can also boast of benefiting from an ECG, an sp02 sensor for measuring the oxygen level in the blood. In addition to health, with this connected watch you will have complete monitoring of your day-to-day sports activities such as walking, running, bodybuilding, yoga or even swimming (the watch is waterproof up to 50 m), which you can then find directly on your phone. The altimeter is also included. Apart from its slower charge, the Series 6 will last 18 hours just like the Series 7. It therefore has enough to last a good day and a half in classic use, which remains on average.
