The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max is the best-equipped model from this year’s iPhone portfolio. Similar to the last time the year before last, it is slightly different (apart from physical size) from its sibling, which does not have the “Max” in the name – specifically, it has a larger zoom in the camera. Although the phone looks similar to last year’s at first glance, surprisingly a lot has changed, including small but crucial details.
The impression of holding it in the hand is important, which has changed a lot from year to year. The phone is significantly lighter, has more rounded edges and fits much better in the hand. This is despite the larger dimensions that the Max retains, but it certainly cannot be described as oversized. In addition, the sandblasted surface of titanium does not leave as many fingerprints as it did last year on steel, although even here you will occasionally have to reach for a cloth. Everything fits together beautifully and the titanium flawlessly follows the matte glass of the back, which we already know from the past.
On the front, we like the thinning of the bezels around the display, but Apple hasn’t improved the panel itself this year. However, this does not mean that it still does not belong to the top. You will love its colors and high brightness. Likewise Dynamic Island, it’s a small thing, but very stylish. You’ll have to get used to the new action button this year, which replaces the physical silent mode switch. It’s a shame that it can only be assigned one function and it doesn’t distinguish between short and long press.
This year, the phone made the biggest leap in graphics performance – it allows you to run ported games from consoles on the phone, and hardware-accelerated raytracing also works for the first time, which hints at the future of iPhones. Durability has practically not changed, the charging method has. For the first time, we have a USB-C connector, which brings with it only advantages – from a larger number of accessories to DisplayPort support or the possibility of reverse charging. Even though Lightning was a good connector and served its years, after the switch to USB-C “not even a dog will bark at it”.
You can even connect an external drive via USB-C to record videos in ProRes format. But even that has certain pitfalls, which you will read about in the review on other sheets. The camera has undergone changes, such as doubling the resolution of the output images or the possibility of choosing more different focal points. A telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom also made its debut here, which will be useful not only for portrait photography. Overall, the camera pleased us with much better details, especially in night shots. Better quality is also known if you switch to the full 48 Mpx resolution.

The phone is launched on Cenova 36,000 CZK in the basic variant with 256 GB of memory. Of course, an additional fee is also possible for the 512 and 1TB version. The difference of CZK 6,000 against the smaller model of the iPhone 15 Pro is not entirely small, but there are a few interesting arguments, such as the new telephoto lens, which many will use to justify the extra payment.
