OceanX is a team of explorers with the aim of researching the underwater world at the end of 2020. Consisting of marine biologists, documentary filmmakers, and media crews, this team will initially investigate the whereabouts of the Pella Aqaba ship that sank in 2011. Who would have thought, suddenly a shadow of an animal with dangling tentacles whose size exceeds an adult was caught on camera by OceanX.
Curious, OceanX also made further research.
When the OceanX crew was seen, the giant squid was engrossed in wrapping its body around one part of the ship. This sighting certainly made the team members curious. To answer their curiosity, further research was carried out until it was finally found that the creature was a giant version of the purple flying squid.
Have a resemblance to similar animals
For the record, the purple flying squid is an animal that is easily found in the Red Sea. This animal has the same way of swimming as other squids. Likewise with black ink which is used as self-defense against predators.
It turns out that the purple flying squid can grow up to 20 meters
In general, purple flying squid have a length of up to about 60 centimeters. Meanwhile, what OceanX found was between three and five meters long. No wonder its appearance made the OceanX crew flabbergasted. However, the team was pleased that this animal could grow up in its preferred habitat.
The discovery of a giant squid in the Red Sea is not the first
Apparently, the existence of squid with this large size has been known for a long time. Local fishermen often hear about his appearance. In the 1960s, Russia had also dived in this area and found the figure of the same creature.
