The AP-HP energy sobriety plan

Echoing the State’s energy sobriety plan presented by the Government in the fall, and as part of the “30 levers for acting together” plan, the AP-HP measured during the year 2021 and the first quarter of 2022 the carbon footprint of its 38 hospitals, the head office and its centers of common interest, taking into account its direct and indirect emissions. The results show that in 2019, energy accounted for 12% of its carbon footprint, estimated at 1.2 million tonnes of CO2e – equivalent to 1.2 million round trips from Paris to New York by plane.

The main objective is to reduce energy consumption over the coming months by mobilizing all professionals around environmental issues and to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and infrastructures. The recruitment of nine advisers in energy and ecological transition in health, including one per university hospital group, during 2023 will make it possible to implement our energy efficiency policy.
