The Festival On The Waves, organized by the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Vigo, initiates the Old Music Week. Today, starting at 5.30 p.m., in the Martín Códax auditorium, you can follow the conference entitled Musical rhetoric, in charge of María del Mar Blanco Moreno, harpsichordist, pianist and Bachelor of Science and History of Music from the University of Salamanca. The conference presents from the field of musical rhetoric a different perspective of analysis: rhetorical-musical figures help the interpretation and understanding of the work.
In the Renaissance and the Baroque, rhetoric was a common subject and compulsory study in the field of the trivium, within the 7 liberal arts. This training sought to improve the communication and persuasion process, applying it to any type of temporary art. This original idea is being forgotten due to other technical-musical aspects, although it can be applied to all kinds of music and styles. In this conference, the techniques used to emotionally influence people will be analyzed.
The program of the Semana da Música Antiga will continue on Thursday, March 4 with a concert at the Martín Códax auditorium (8:00 p.m.) of the Orquestra Barroca do CSMVigo Already on Friday, March 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the Martín Códax auditorium, the Antiga Music Interpretation Seminar for string instrumentalists will take place. It will include the performance of Pavel Amílcar (baroque violin)
