The anti-rabies vaccination campaign, underway in the coming days

Ceuta will keep its anti-rabies vaccination campaign active throughout the year. This has been confirmed by the government spokesman who recalled that this vaccine is mandatory for pets over 3 months old. The extension of this campaign, which was usually a few months, comes after the city had to deal with a case of rabies last year. Already then it was decided to extend the current campaign, finally determining that this year’s campaign includes 12 months.

Thus, explained Alberto Gaitán, this anti-rabies vaccination campaign will begin in the coming days and will last until the end of December of this year. Those interested in vaccinating their pets, which is mandatory, can do so free of charge at one of the nine veterinary clinics in the city.

A free vaccination that is part of the agreement signed by the Autonomous City with the College of Veterinarians for an amount of 310,000 euros. The same, explained the Government spokesman, also includes the sterilization and registration of felines, with the collaboration of the entities that deal with these animals, as well as the clinical coverage of the animals that are in the animal health center of the city.

This announcement has also served the Government spokesman to take stock of last year’s campaign, in which a total of 11,100 pets were vaccinated in our city, approximately 73 percent of the census of the same.
