PostePay is a highly successful prepaid card and there are countless Italians who are customers of this Poste Italiane service.
Indeed, it can be said that Postepay is one of the greatest successes of Poste Italiane given not only the number of users, but also the continuity with which they have been using it for years. An innovative service when it was born but which then evolved and was enriched with many services.
All this attention and all this popularity, however, can also lead to sometimes negative implications. Many users of Poste Italiane and in particular of the Postepay card have received a communication informing them of an anomaly on the profile.
Suspected anomaly
An anomaly that needs to be corrected simply by updating the data. This message has reached many users and many of them have gotten into trouble because it is a phishing attempt.
Users convinced that they have actually been contacted by Poste Italiane follow the link contained in the message but this is a very serious mistake. In fact, the link does not lead them to a Poste Italiane portal but leads them to a platform which has the sole purpose of stealing their sensitive data relating to Postepay.
Beware of the trap on card
Customers informed of this anomaly through this sms immediately try to update the data but obviously this is a very big mistake. The authorities seriously warn of these messages that have been multiplying in recent months. Even such messages also reach name of the INPS or the Postal Police. But the police warn that when you receive such a text message it must be deleted immediately but above all you must carefully avoid clicking on the link. In fact, it is the link that is sent to us that is the real heart of the scam.
What to do and what to avoid
If we don’t click on the link, we don’t give criminals the chance to steal our data and even our money. If we receive such messages after having carefully deleted them, we must also block the number who sent them to us. If we can have the doubt that this communication may instead have a glimmer of foundation (but obviously this is not the case) it will have to be our care to go to the subject who theoretically sent it to us to make sure of its truthfulness.
