It’s a great distinction … And even a double distinction for Guadeloupe Guillaume Lorin. His animated film, Vanilla, won two awards at the New York International Children’s Film Festival (NYICFF).
The 7th art seen by children
Vanille is an animated film that features our Guadeloupe. The director and screenwriter, a young Guadeloupe, wrote this screenplay with Aurore Auguste and Antoine Lanciaux. All three wanted to enhance the archipelago and present it to the world through the eyes of the little heroine, named Vanille.
Every year, since 1997, when it was created, in February and March, this festival which takes place in New York unveils and defends works intended for children and adolescents aged 3 to 18 years.
Vanille conquered the jurors
The winners of the awards selected by the festival are eligible for Academy Awards in the Best Animated Short and Best Action Short categories.
The Jury awards two prizes: the best animated short film and the best fictional short film, and the parents choose one. For the other prizes, it is the children who vote according to their age.
In recent years, many French films have been shown. And this year, it is the story of the little Vanilla that seduced the jurors. Thus, Guillaume Lorin’s short film was doubly rewarded this Tuesday, March 23, with the “Young audience aged 8 and over” prize and the Grand prix du public.
A great recognition for the young director who did not hide his joy and happiness, faced with such recognition.
