It is therefore The animal kingdom, the new film by Thomas Cailley, which receives this fifth Audience Award (After The Dazzled in 2020, Little girl in 2021, In body in 2022 and For France in 2023). The film is released on March 15 in the United States, distributed by Magnolia Pictures. Note that a special mention was given to Toni, with family, from Nathan Ambrosioni.
As a reminder, the Audience Award is awarded by festival spectators, invited to rate the films online at the end of the screenings. At the end of the festival, one of these spectators drawn at random won, thanks to the support of Air France, a return ticket for 2 people to Paris.
This 29th edition also saw the delivery of the 3rd Best Emerging Filmmaker Award to the movie The Rapture, by Iris Kaltenbäck, an award aimed at drawing attention to the unique cinematic point of view of emerging French filmmakers, and their interpretation of France’s new and diverse identities. A mention was awarded to La Fille de son père, by Erwan Le Duc.
It should be noted that Her Father’s Daughter and Toni, en famille both appear in the program of Young French Cinema 2024, which offers a program of contemporary French films without a distributor, to North American theaters, cinema libraries and universities, sometimes accompanied by masterclasses and debates in the presence of directors.
Six students from New York universities were invited to participate in the Student Jury rewarding the Best Emerging Filmmaker, among the seven first and second feature films in the selection.
