The Angevins received Bordeaux on Tuesday with the possibility of concluding this series, at home. After the clashes the day before, tension reigned between the two teams. The game will have been disputed for a long time, Bordelais and Angevins neutralizing each other in the neutral zone and exchanging the highlights. At the start of the second half, things were changing quickly. Jonathan Charbonneau opened the scoring with a powerful shot from the tight angle (21’17). Only five seconds later, the score was two goals to zero after a powerful shot from Kévin Dusseau between the boots of the Bordeaux goalkeeper (21’22).
The debates were balanced until the end of third time. On a distant attempt by Nik Simsic, Kévin Dusseau deflected the puck on the stick of Maurin Bouvet who tripled the lead (36’27). The third was just a formality. Brendan Harms adding a fourth shorthanded goal (52’00). Despite a reduction in the score by Louis Vitou (56’54) at the end of the match, Angers qualified for the Magnus League semi-finals. They should find there none other than the Dragons of Rouen, who disposed of the Gothics of Amiens earlier in the week.
Post-match reaction from Jason O’Leary, head coach of the Ducs d’Angers:All I remember is that it’s a fourth victory and a qualification. It’s all that matters. Throughout the series, the entire squad played, we were able to count on everyone. All the players took their role head on, especially Robin (Gaborit) and Nik (Simsic) who hadn’t played for a long time. […] Obviously there are things on which I would like us to improve. We have a week to work on it and rest after these four games in five days. I’m super proud of my guys».
