The amputee Olympic champion regains consciousness from a coma, but is left with little to be grateful for.

Former Olympic champion Russian ice dancer Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized with severe pneumonia on January 10, where he was put on a ventilator, as a result of which he developed blood circulation problems.

Due to the disease, the 46-year-old athlete had to have both his legs amputated, and later also his hands. However, this was not the only problem, as the world champion suffered two strokes in recent weeks.

Later, a blood purification procedure was performed on him, after which his doctors described his condition as stable. The Italy Agency according to her information, the man woke up from the artificial coma and has already spoken to his wife, Okszana Domnyina – who is also a figure skater and was an Olympic bronze medalist in Vancouver in 2010 – but there were not many thanks.

According to sources close to the family, after Kostomarov woke up, he turned hard on his wife and started shouting at her.

Doctors say emotional breakdowns are a common occurrence in intensive care patients, especially after multiple surgeries like Kostomarov’s. Roman Kostomarov also complained of pain in his buttocks.
