The Americans, double world champions, beat the Japanese (1-0) on Sunday during the second day of the SheBelieves Cup, in Nashville (Tennessee). On an assist from Alex Morgan, Mallory Swanson scored the only goal of the game just before half-time (45th), signing his 7th goal in his last five matches with the United States.
Team USA won its first match of the competition against Canada on Thursday (2-0). In the other match of the day, the Canadians will face the Brazil star Marta, who is back from injury.
Preparing for the World Cup
The six-time Best Player of the Year signed her recovery on Thursday by delivering the assist for Debinha against Japan (1-0 victory). The SheBelieves Cup serves as preparation for the World Cup which will take place in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.
