An American veteran made an unexpected statement about the war in Ukraine, UNIAN reported. John Nagle, an Iraq war veteran and professor at the US Army War College, said Ukraine is currently saving American lives and dollars by defeating Russian fascists.
“I am amazed that America is abandoning a small country that is fighting fascism in Europe in the 21st century,” he noted, reacting to the fact that the US president’s administration stopped short of saying it would support Ukraine as long as needed.

“Although the United States has given Ukraine about 75 billion dollars, most of this amount is weapons that are obsolete and should have been destroyed. It was literally cheaper for the United States to send these weapons to Ukraine so they could be used to defend freedom than to destroy them here,” the military expert said.
John Nagle is convinced that by helping Ukraine, the US is preserving the international order established after World War II, which has ensured the longest period of peace and economic development in history.
“Over the past two years, Ukrainian soldiers armed with American weapons have destroyed more than half of Russia’s military capabilities, costing roughly 5 percent of the U.S. defense budget. Given that Russia is now the greatest proven threat to world peace and security, Putin’s dreams of restoring the Soviet empire are unlikely to stop at the border with Ukraine… Aid to Ukraine saves American lives and dollars.” remarked the professor.
