The American rapper DMX, stage name of Earl Simmons, died on Friday at the age of 50 after a few days in the hospital, he said a spokesperson for his family to the site Pitchfork. DMX, who became famous in the late nineties among other things with the song “Party Up”, and also remembered for a particularly hoarse and unusual voice in rap, had been for a while one of the most popular and successful hip hop artists of the New York scene. Second Pitchfork, had been hospitalized after what appears to have been an overdose, following which he had suffered a heart attack.
