US airlines have opposed the ban imposed by the European Union on minor trips to the country. Restrictions can be lifted for fully vaccinated people
The lobby of the American airlines sharply criticized the decision of Brussels to remove the United States from the European list of countries from which travel is allowed for insignificant reasons, AFP reported.
Along with the United States, the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Israel and Lebanon were removed from the list on Monday. The reason is the deteriorating epidemiological situation in these countries.

“The European Union’s recommendations are a step backwards and have definitely disappointed US airlines, which have worked hard to renew safe transatlantic courses,” the Airlines for America said in a statement.
“With the opening of the EU to travelers from the United States for minor reasons, Americans have been quick to buy tickets, pack their bags and see loved ones they hadn’t seen in more than two years,” the lobby group said.
The EU added the United States to its list in June. But now the epidemiological situation in the country is deteriorating and this motivates today’s Community decision.
A statement from the 27 today states that member states retain the possibility of lifting restrictions on non-essential travel for fully vaccinated people coming from the aforementioned six countries.
There are now 17 places in the world on the union’s list. These are Japan, New Zealand, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Australia, Canada, Jordan, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Singapore, South Korea. However, this list is regularly reviewed and updated.
