The winter storms are already affecting areas of Canada and the US in these cold months of November and December but they were supported to a greater or lesser degree. But next week, December 14-20, there could be an intense winter storm that some experts have described as one of the most important in recent years.
The storm will develop in a deep cyclogenesis process but it will be supported by a powerful Canadian anticyclone that will carry very cold and dry air in areas of the east coast storm that will cause potentially heavy snowfall. Millions of people will be affected. By the end of the week, December 19-20, the storm will move towards the western Atlantic.
Snowfall could begin in the Rocky Mountains on Monday, December 14, and would spread across the plains Monday night, leaving snow in parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming.
The worst, mid-week
Later and throughout the week the snowfalls would fall from Boston to New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC, with significant amounts of snow. Snowfall will be accompanied by strong winds. Wednesday and Thursday, December 16 and 17 respectively, could be critical days on the American East Coast. The snowfall could be very intense and would alter the lives of millions of people in the American East.
Accumulations of 40-50 cm are expected in some areas with local maximums of 70 cm or more.
Major cuts in transportation systems and power outages are expected in some states on the American East Coast.
Therefore, an adverse blizzard is expected (blizzard) associated with a winter storm in areas of eastern America.
