Martina Strong, US Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, praised the role played by COP28 in uniting the world in commitments to combat climate change uniformly, during her speech at the 12th graduation ceremony of the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, in the presence of Sheikh Khalid bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Investment and Development Office in Ras Al Khaimah.
She praised the 100,000 participants from all over the world who gathered at COP28 with the aim of uniting the world in making commitments and taking action to stop the rise in global temperatures and protect the environment for future generations.
In her speech to the students, she compared the difficult deliberations at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) with the challenges that young people face today as they navigate opportunities and challenges in working life.
She mentioned several lessons from the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), including: Always lead with courage and faith. Remember that every challenge and every problem contains an opportunity. Do not leave anyone outside or leave anyone behind. Never lose sight of the bigger picture and the important things and people in it. life.
“You wonder why the lessons learned from a conference are so relevant to you and the life you hope to live,” she added. The answer is very simple. The decisions and actions taken by COP28 will directly affect almost everything that is important for your future. “The economy, health, environment, climate, stability and security of almost every international system will all be shaped by this consequential event.”
She pointed to the very courageous decisions, and the leaders’ unwavering belief that the world can and must do better when it comes to our planet, when it comes to humanity, and when it comes to our common future.
Sheikh Khaled expressed his best wishes to the graduates for continued success in all their future endeavors, encouraged them to continue their studies to achieve their personal goals, and urged them to assume leadership positions through which they can meaningfully contribute to the progress and growth of their societies.
