The alleged specifications of the new AMD Ryzen 9 5900X “Vermeer” processor appear on the web. The new generation of red chips is to offer a significant performance leap, if rumors are to be believed.
The AMD Ryzen 9 5900X will be a much faster processor compared to its predecessor, the Ryzen 9 3900X. The new chip will also have 12 cores and 24 threads, but in the “Max Boost” mode, its clock speed is to be even 5GHz. This is 400 MHz more than the previous model. However, the power consumption is also expected to increase, because according to rumors the TDP will be 150W, compared to 105W in the 9 3900X model.
According to sources, the new AMD Ryzen 9 5900X will for some time be the fastest chip available on the market for work, as the IPC ratio is expected to increase by as much as 10-15 percent. The new systems from the Zen 3 “Vermeer” family will be the next generation made in 7-nm lithography, and will be compatible with AM4 sockets (400 and 500 series). Only with Zen 4, AMD announces the transition to the next level, i.e. 5-nm lithography.
AMD Ryzen 5900X technical specifications – a rumor you can believe
So far, the AMD Ryzen 5900X tech spec is just a rumor, but it seems quite plausible. It seems the Reds are trying to squeeze more out of their chips using tactics similar to Intel’s. They increase the TDP of the new models, but unlike the blue ones, they keep these values within reason. This is where 7nm lithography helps, giving AMD chips an advantage in terms of translating power into performance.
