News (Nouakchott) – The Japanese Ambassador to Mauritania, Uchida Tatsukuni, commended the efforts of the authorities, who arrive day and night to search for prisoners who have escaped from the central prison since last Monday night.
During a speech delivered Thursday evening, the Japanese diplomat expressed the Japanese government’s strong condemnation of these terrorist acts, and its solidarity with the Mauritanian government and people in the efforts to combat terrorism.
The Japanese ambassador offered condolences to the families of the victims who were killed as a result of the prison escape, which was carried out by terrorists.
During a ceremony held by the Japanese Embassy on the occasion of the 63rd National Day of the Empire of Japan, Tatsukuni stressed that the relations between Mauritania and Japan are developing day by day thanks to the support and assistance of all actors in the public and private sectors in Mauritania, the diplomatic corps and international organizations.
He added that his country’s embassy is determined to redouble its efforts to strengthen and deepen bilateral relations between the two countries, reviewing aspects of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of fishing, agriculture and health.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk, Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy Mohamed Abdeen Amaiyev, Advisor to the Presidency Haruna Etroera, Advisor to the Prime Minister Hindu Bint Ainaina, Ambassador and Secretary-General of the High Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yahya Mankus, and a number of foreign officials.
