Clearly, the meetings between FCG Amazones and Bobigny are not easy this season in Elite 1 women. While the first leg, scheduled for September 20, could not take place on the scheduled date, the return is again postponed.
Following the first match between the two teams – which had been rescheduled on February 7 and won by Bobigny in Isère (33-5) – three positive Covid-19 cases were detected within the Isère workforce. And this week, a new positive case was declared, as well as two contact cases. These players were placed in solitary confinement and were unable to train.
As most of them are front row players, a sector where the FCG was already deploring injuries, the Amazons cannot play their match in Bobigny this Sunday with sufficient numbers.

Bobigny, collateral victim?
And we are not heading towards a postponement, but rather a cancellation because this Bobigny – Grenoble match counted for the 6th and last day of the 1st phase of Elite 1 women. However, the French Rugby Federation (FFR) has planned to start the second phase (with play off and play down) the following weekend (Sunday February 28). There is therefore no more free date to make up for this postponement.
This cancellation will be without consequence for the Amazons of the FCG, 4th and last of the group 4 (0 point in five days); which will send them to play down during the 2nd phase. On the other hand, if the FFR decided to apply the equalization to still give a score to this meeting, this could penalize AC Bobigny 93 (3rd, 11 points), which hopes to pass the Stade Bordelais (2nd, 14 points) on the occasion of this 6th day. Bordelaises who move Sunday to Romagnat, at the undefeated leader of group 4.
