The Amazfit Falcon GPS multisport watch is decorated with half-priced titanium from Apple and Garmin

Already present in the world of outdoor sports watches with its T-Rex series, Amazfit is moving upwards with its new titanium Falcon watch, following in the footsteps of Garmin and Apple. True to its reputation, however, it stands out for its very aggressive pricing positioning. The Amazfit Falcon is in fact launched at € 499.90, half the price of the Garmin Epix Gen 2 and the Apple Watch Ultra. It is also a bit cheaper than the just announced Suunto 9 Peak Pro (€ 629 in the titanium version).

A titanium case and very waterproof

This price does not prevent Amazfit from offering a watch with a 49 mm titanium case announced as very resistant and particularly waterproof. The Falcon meets the MIL-STD 810G military standard and has a 20 ATM (200 pm) certification. The practice of scuba diving is thus possible.

On the downside, Amazfit Falcon does not include a microphone or speaker and therefore cannot be used for phone calls.

In addition to the titanium case, the Falcon benefits from a sapphire crystal that protects a 1.28 “AMOLED screen (416 x 416 px, brightness up to 1000 nits). Nothing very impressive at this level and even a little disappointing in comparison. to the 1.39 “screen of the T-Rex 2. A larger display could have been expected for such a massive watch (49.45 x 47.2 x 12.95 mm for 64 g, excluding strap).

This large case, however, can accommodate a 500 mAh battery, guaranteeing the Falcon up to 14 days of autonomy in “classic use”, according to Amazfit, or up to 21 hours with precision GPS.

More than 150 sports modes and a virtual coach

It is also a dual-band multi GNSS chip used for geolocation, which should in principle guarantee good accuracy even in congested environments (cities, forests, etc.).

As for the other sensors, we find the BioTracker 3.0 with 6 photodiodes for measuring heart rate and SpO2, in addition to the classic gyroscopic, geomagnetic, altimetric sensors, an accelerometer and an ambient light sensor. External sensors can also be connected via Bluetooth.

As for the software, it is still the Zepp operating system that drives this Amazfit Falcon. In all, 159 sport modes are recognized, eight of which are automatically recognized. We also benefit from a virtual coach for training, trajectory correction and tracking modes for running, as well as importing routes to take advantage of the integrated navigation function (without mapping).

So many arguments to seduce outdoor sports enthusiasts who don’t necessarily have the budget to afford a Garmin or Apple watch. However, it will be a question of verifying whether its sports performance and the accuracy of its measurements are at the level of its competitors, which we will try to determine in a future test.
