The associations for the maintenance of peasant agriculture (Amap) are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and that is not nothing. Born in the south of France in 2001, this citizens’ movement reflects common sense: its operation allows farmers to buy products directly from farmers near their homes while guaranteeing them an acceptable income. This is the very principle of fair trade except that it supports ultra-local agriculture.
