Uber has so far operated in Prague and Brno in the Czech Republic. Bolt and Liftago offer alternative transport in Ostrava and Pilsen.

According to its domestic representation, Uber responds to the growing local demand during the expansion, when last year almost a quarter of a million people wanted to order a trip via the Uber application.
–
“Here again, Uber only cooperates with professional drivers with a license, and the service thus fully complies with Czech legislative requirements,” said Marek. Existing taxi drivers will be able to use the service.
–
“We want to offer the people of Pilsen and Ostrava a new way of easy and affordable transport around the city without the need to use their own car,” said Uber’s manager Štěpán Šindelář.
–
People can use the service through an application on a mobile phone. After ordering a ride, information about the driver and his car will be displayed.
–
Customers can track both his trip to the agreed location and then his trip and share it, including the estimated time of arrival. They pay for the ride in cash or cashless directly in the application.
–
The American company has been operating in the Czech Republic since 2014, when it started traveling in Prague. It has also been operating in Brno since last year.
–
The number of customers the company has not stated in recent years, there are hundreds of thousands of people who use the application annually. According to previous data, the number of active drivers is in thousands.
–
In addition to Uber, there are similar services in the Czech Republic as the Estonian Bolt, which operates in almost two dozen Czech cities, or the Czech application Liftago, which operates in ten Czech cities, including Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Pilsen.
–
In the past, taxi drivers repeatedly protested against the work of Uber and Bolt in Prague. According to them, the companies did not comply with the obligations applicable to taxi services.
